Sammy The Stag will be one of hundreds of teddies thrown onto the ice for the Fountaindale SEN School at an Elite League ice hockey game on Saturday.

The Sheffield Steelers game at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday 22nd March v Coventry will see the ‘Fountaindale Teddy Bear Toss’ take place, fans from both sides will be encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game, and throw them onto the ice when the Steelers score their first goal. The toys will then be gathered up and will be donated to the youngsters at the Mansfield based SEN School.

Hall-Fast who are sponsors and community partners of both the Stags and the Steelers have committed to raising £50,000 within two years for the Fountaindale which helps youngsters aged between 3 and 19 with physical and sensory needs. Commenting Hall-Fast Director Rachel Hall said “it’s great that Mansfield Town are supporting us and will be represented on the ice on Saturday”

In December 2013 a Teddy Bear Toss that took place in Calgary resulted in 26,000 teddy bears thrown onto the ice.
