Preview: Stags vs Spireites

22 March 2014

Everything you need to know ahead of Saturday's match with Chesterfield at One Call Stadium.

TEAM NEWS

Striker Jake Speight could figure in this match following his impressive display in our Final Third Development League Cup win over Leicester City on Wednesday.

However, the Stags will be without full-back Darryl Westlake, who serves a one-match suspension after his red card in the 1-1 draw at Northampton Town last week.

RECENT FORM

Our team jumped up to 16th position in Sky Bet League Two after last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Northampton Town at Sixfields Stadium. You can watch highlights by clicking here.

Meanwhile, the Spireites were knocked off top spot as they lost 2-1 at Plymouth Argyle. You can watch the best moments from that match by clicking here.

Despite the defeat, Paul Cook’s team still boast the joint-tightest defence at this level, having conceded just 36 goals in their 38 league outings this term.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

In the reverse fixture at the Proact Stadium in September, we recorded a fabulous 1-0 victory courtesy of Calvin Andrew’s first-half header. You can watch highlights by clicking here.

In the Spireites’ last match at One Call Stadium, Paul Cook’s side were 1-0 winners in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Second Round clash, with Gary McSheffrey scoring late on.

Nevertheless, we boast the superior ‘head-to-head’ record in league matches with the Spireites, which reads as follows: Won 26, Drew 13, Lost 24.

Our last home league victory against Chesterfield was back in December 1994. Steve Wilkinson grabbed a hat-trick in a stunning 4-2 victory.

OFFICIALS

Mr Darren Bond has been appointed by the Football League as the referee for this match. He will be assisted by Mr Geoff Law and Mr Peter Marsden. The Fourth Official is Mr Simon Barrow.

The Spireites will be backed by a 1,500-strong following in the North Stand.

PARKING

Based on police advice, it has been decided that Chesterfield supporters cannot park their vehicles in the main car park at One Call Stadium.

Visiting supporters are advised to park their vehicles at Mansfield Railway Station (Robin Hood Line), which is a short walk from the North Stand (away end).

The following rates apply:

Fee per hour - £0.70
Day Ticket 10 hours - £4.00
Day Ticket 24 hours - £10.00

All supporters should be aware that there is a maximum stay of one hour for any vehicle parked at Portland Retail Park, which is at the side of One Call Stadium. Local authorities have informed us that a parking ticket will be issued if this stay is exceeded.

It should also be noted that the gate connecting the North Stand and Ian Greaves Stand will be closed throughout the day, following a police request. Stags fans should enter the stadium via Quarry Lane.

The Sandy Pate Sports Bar will be open to HOME SUPPORTERS ONLY from 11.00am.

Don't forget with our ‘Sweet Saturday’ offer, you can claim a free desert when you purchase any main course meal.

All five private booths in the SPSB have been sold for this match. However, to book a booth for any of our other home fixtures, e-mail sales@mansfieldtown.net or call 01623 482482.
