No appeal for Westlake

18 March 2014

On loan full-back set to serve one-match suspension.

Manager Paul Cox has confirmed that the club haven’t appealed against the red card which Darryl Westlake received in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Northampton Town.

The 23-year-old received a straight red card in the 64th minute at the Sixfields Stadium for allegedly handling the ball inside his own area.

As a result, the on loan full-back, who has featured on 21 occasions since joining us from Sheffield United in November, is now preparing to serve a one-match suspension.

Westlake will miss Saturday’s crunch clash with Chesterfield at One Call Stadium, and won’t be available for selection until our trip to Hartlepool United next week.

“I’ve watched it a number of times and a lot of the DVD footage is inconclusive,” said our boss.

“We won’t be appealing the red card. Unless you can 100% guarantee that the referee made a mistake then the decision goes against you.”

He added: “It’s the one game and we’ve just got to get on with things.”
