Midfielder expected to be in Villains’ squad for Thursday’s friendly at One Call Stadium.
The Mansfield public could have the opportunity to see ex-England international Joe Cole make his Aston Villa debut later this week.
The 32-year-old, who was capped on 56 occasions by England – featuring in three World Cups, is expected to be in the Villains’ squad which makes the journey to North Nottinghamshire for Thursday’s eagerly-anticipated pre-season friendly.
Cole – a three-time Premier League title-winner during his days at Chelsea, where he worked under Jose Mourinho, amongst others – joined Villa from West Ham United this summer, and has also had spells at Lille OSC and Liverpool.
One famous face in world football who will definitely be at One Call Stadium on Thursday is Roy Keane.
The Irishman was recently unveiled as the Villains’ new assistant-boss and during his playing days, enjoyed a distinguished top-flight career, in which he played for Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, Cobh Ramblers and Celtic.
