Determined youngsters beat Harriers

8 January 2014

Our youth team defied the odds to earn an impressive 4-2 victory at Kidderminster Harriers this afternoon.

We were forced to play for more than an hour with 10 men, as full-back Liam Marsden was shown a straight red card for an apparent handball on the goal-line.

But a determined team performance, inspired by skipper Jack Thomas, saw us extend our unbeaten run in the FCYA (Midland Division) to nine matches and consolidate top spot.

We led thanks to an early goal by Joe Flint, before Kiddy successfully converted a penalty to draw level on the half-hour mark, after Marsden’s apparent handball.

Thomas fired us into a 2-1 advantage at the interval, but the hosts refused to lie down and equalised again shortly after the re-start.

Our youngsters fought tirelessly to make up for the numerical disadvantage in players, and re-took the lead when Flint pounced at point-blank range on 66 minutes.

Another three points were sealed with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, when Billy Simpson knocked home a teasing corner by Conor Green.

Team: Fell, Marsden, Hempshall, Koczalski, Coupe, Lamb, J.Thomas (c), Spencer (Simpson), Green, Hemagou (Flint), Fletcher (M.Jones).
