We can bounce back - Tafazolli

27 February 2014

Defender Ryan Tafazolli believes that our team are capable of bouncing back from the disappointing midweek result against Bury, in Saturday’s match away to Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 4-1 loss on home soil to the Shakers saw us slip to 20th position in Sky Bet League Two – just six points above Northampton Town, who currently occupy a relegation spot.

However, we are also just four points behind ninth-placed Newport County and with the fixtures coming thick and fast over the next few weeks, Tafazolli is looking firmly upwards.

“It wasn’t a good result for us on Tuesday night, but I think the main thing for us now is our ability to bounce back,” said the 22-year-old.

“We need to put things behind us and get back to doing what we know we’re good at, which is bullying teams, etcetera, and try to put that into practice.

“We just need to stay positive. I think if we do that then we’ll have no problems against teams.”

The ex-Southampton trainee has been a key figure in our defence ever since our 2-1 victory at Cheltenham Town shortly after Christmas.

Tuesday’s defeat was just our third in 11 league matches and Tafazolli insists that it was just a blip.

“Maybe we put everything into last Saturday’s game [a 1-0 victory against Fleetwood Town] and by Tuesday we were a bit exhausted, I’m not too sure,” added the centre-back.

“[Our defence] has been solid recently and I think it was just a blip in what has been a good run of games whilst I’ve been in the side.

“What we need to do is put it behind us, concentrate on what we’re good at, and try to pick up three points at Dagenham and start climbing the table.”
