Youngsters edged out by Mariners

20 December 2014

Dwyer scores spot-kick, but Grimsby win 2-1.

Anthony Dwyer’s penalty wasn’t enough as our youth team succumbed to a 2-1 defeat away at Grimsby Town in the Football League Youth Alliance (North/East Division) this morning.

The Stags, who trailed 1-0 at the break, got back on level terms midway through the second half when Dwyer converted from 12 yards after being brought down inside the penalty area.

However, Grimsby scored straight from the re-start to secure a narrow victory – their second one-goal success against us this term.

Our youngsters now break for a few weeks due to the festive period, with their next game in the Football League Youth Alliance scheduled for Saturday 10 January, away at Scunthorpe United.
