Youngsters beat Dunkirk, 3-1, to reach the summit in the H-K-L North Midlands League. Our development squad went top of the H-K-L North Midlands League table as they came from behind to record a 3-1 victory over local rivals Dunkirk last night.
The visitors began well and after rattling the woodwork inside the opening 10 minutes, they took the lead shortly afterwards – converting from a corner, after Adam Bishop had pulled off a point-blank save to force the flag-kick.
However, the Stags got back on level terms just before half-time when Corbin Shires forced the ball home after a strong spell of pressure.
After the re-start, it was largely one-way traffic as the Stags upped the ante. They eventually opened up an advantage just after the hour mark when substitute Tino Chavandura smashed the ball home from six yards.
Liam Groves completed the scoring with a sumptuous curling effort late on – to give the Stags a well-deserved three points, which takes them to the top of the table.
