Our ladies team were held to a 1-1 draw in their opening match in the newly-formed FA Women’s Premier League (Midland Division One).The Stagettes made an early breakthrough courtesy of a strike by skipper Stacey Bridge on the quarter-hour mark, but the hosts found an equaliser before the break.
Our ladies, playing their first competitive match under new boss Michael Wain, had the better chances after the re-start and could have snatched all three points in the closing stages when Sheryl Gayle fired just inches wide.
