Fans to walk blindfold to stadium

25 April 2014

Charity walk in aid of Guide Dogs UK.

A number of Mansfield Town supporters will walk to One Call Stadium from the Bold Forester Public House wearing blindfolds ahead of tomorrow’s match with Torquay United.

They will be led by lifelong fan Nathan Edge (pictured, centre) who suffers from a rare eye condition. The walk is in aid of Guide Dogs UK.

Ahead of the 1.3 mile walk, Nathan explained: “We’re expecting to face many challenges on route such as navigating around obstacles, heading through a busy town centre, negotiating steps and much more.

“Those accompanying me on the journey will also have the opportunity to guide someone and learn that skill which one day could make a massive difference to a blind person like me.”

The group will meet at 1.00pm in the Bold Forester on Botany Avenue. A group of volunteers, including Nathan, will also be taking part in a blindfold penalty shoot-out against some youth team players.
