AFC Wimbledon deducted three points

28 April 2014

Dons drop to 18th for fielding ineligible player.

A Football Disciplinary Commission has ruled that AFC Wimbledon are to be deducted three points.

This is for fielding an ineligible player, Jake Nicholson, in the Sky Bet League Two fixture against Cheltenham Town on Saturday 22 March.

Wimbledon won the match 4-3, with Nicholson coming on as a substitute at half-time, before scoring his team's second goal in the 70th minute.

The club were also fined the sum of £5,000, suspended until the end of the 2014/15 campaign, and must pay the costs of the hearing.

As a result of the points deduction, Neal Ardley's team can no longer leapfrog us in the Sky Bet League Two table. They drop to 18th position - level on points with Hartlepool United and Morecambe respectively.
