Team work-ethic pleases Tafazolli

28 September 2013

Defender Ryan Tafazolli was delighted with how we performed in our 1-0 win at fierce local rivals Chesterfield.

Tafazolli, whose 22nd birthday is today, played a prominent role alongside John Dempster and Ritchie Sutton in defence, as we superbly kept The Spireites at bay.

“The lads put in a great shift today and I’m very proud,” said Tafazolli. “I was delighted with the way that we defended and how we picked up an important result.

“Chesterfield played well and have a lot of experience within their side, but we got our game-plan and tactics right, meaning we came out on top.

“We never stopped talking or communicating. We always knew it was going to be a battle – especially in the second-half, so credit to the lads.”

With our side leading 1-0 after 90 minutes, Tafazolli also admits that the six minutes of added time at the end of the match, felt much more.

“The six minutes at the end felt like another 20 minutes,” continued the defender. “A few of the lads were playing with cramp at the end, but we just kept battling.”

“It was an unbelievable feeling when we heard that whistle go. It was a great relief.”

Tafazolli added: “It’s very important we keep level-headed and not get too carried away.

“We worked hard this week and will take this into next week, where hopefully we will come out with another good result.”
