Preview: Newport vs Stags

6 September 2013

Can we make it five unbeaten at Rodney Parade?

Our side travel to South Wales to face Newport County tomorrow, in a battle between the two teams that won promotion from the Conference Premier last term.

In what promises to be an intriguing clash, a victory for either team would almost certainly result in them jumping into the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off zone.

Kick-Off is at 3.00pm at Rodney Parade.

TEAM NEWS:

Ollie Palmer (pictured) and James Jennings are both rated ’50-50’ for tomorrow’s match, following injuries that they sustained in last Saturday’s 3-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

Newport, meanwhile, will be without injured duo Aaron O’Connor (groin) and Andy Sandell (foot).

RECENT FORM:

Both teams have made a bright start to the new campaign, and are separated by just one place in the Sky Bet League Two table.

Our side are unbeaten in four matches, whilst The Exiles’ only league defeat so far this season, was at Northampton Town on 10 August.

Justin Edinburgh’s team also boast a 100% record at Rodney Parade this term, having already beaten Accrington Stanley (4-1) and Bristol Rovers (1-0) on home soil.

However, we collected maximum points in our last away match, which was a 1-0 victory at Wycombe Wanderers on 17 August.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

Justin Edinburgh’s team have emerged victorious in their last three meeting with us.

The Exiles did the ‘double’ over us last term, which included a 2-0 victory on our only previous visit to Rodney Parade.

Nevertheless, we cruised to a 5-0 victory over The Exiles at One Call Stadium in September 2011. Ross Dyer and Louis Briscoe were amongst the scorers.
