Defender John Dempster believes that the competition for places in our first team has helped to spark our good form in recent weeks.
Our side, who sit just outside the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off places at present, go into tomorrowâs match with York City on a five-match unbeaten run.
âI think weâve been doing quite well,â said Dempster.
âWeâve looked solid and the two lads who have played alongside me, Martin Riley and Ritchie Sutton, have been outstanding, which always makes it as a bit easier.
âHaving said that, our two wing-backs, three midfielders and the two centre-forwards have all been working their socks off for us.
âWhen youâre keeping clean-sheets or the goal tally down defensively, itâs always a team effort.â
He continued: âItâs a healthy position to have the squad that we have. Everyone is fighting for a place in the first team, and players are training well.
âBut we donât really want to get too carried away, because thereâs always a difficult game around the corner, and weâve got a difficult game away at York on Saturday.Â
âTheyâve got an experienced manager, who has had a lot of success throughout his career, and theyâll be looking to get some points on the board.
âTheyâll be desperate to win, but as long as we go there and weâre solid, weâve always got the players in our team that can create a chance.
âIf we can start taking those chances, weâll be fine.â
