Fans help Kayleb reach target

11 October 2013

Fans of Mansfield Town and Chesterfield have helped raise over £1,000 which will help take terminally ill child Kayleb Godfrey to Disney World, Florida, early next year.

Precisely £1,070.57 was collected during Tuesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy match at home to Chesterfield, which means the family has now hit their £5,000 target (part funded by the Make A Wish Foundation).

Local seven-year-old Kayleb was born with cerebal palsy, global developmental delay and chronic liver disease. His family has been told recently that it is in Kayleb’s best interests for the youngster to avoid a liver transplant. The Mansfield boy, who is on an End of Life Plan, was our mascot for the aforementioned match.

His grandad Nigel Millband said: "The generous support of your fans makes it possible for the family to have memories that will never be forgotten."

This morning, first team players Jamie McGuire and Calvin Andrew, amongst others, presented Kayleb with a shirt signed by our first team squad.
