Defender Lee Beevers believes our side put in a much better display tonight than last weekend despite a 1-0 defeat to Chesterfield this evening.
A Gary McSheffrey strike on 72 minutes proved to be just enough for the Spireitesâ to progress into the third round of the competition despite large periods of domination from the Stags.
With our side now out of the competition, Beevers says our players must now focus on their League Two campaign.Â
âIt was a lot better performance than last Saturday,â said Beevers.Â
âWe got the ball around and created many chances but were unfortunate not to score. We could have scored a couple but tonight wasnât the night.Â
âWe defended really well. We had a few chances in second half but overall I was quite pleased with the performance.Â
âItâs never nice to lose at all but tonight we have lost in the right way. We are a little bit happier than what we were but itâs still not nice to lose.âÂ
He added: âNow we have to concentrate on the league and see what we can do. Â Itâs going to be a tough game [against Bristol Rovers] with them playing in the higher divisions in previous years. Â
âWe showed tonight we donât want to see anything like we did last week and make a habit of it. We carried on and looked to put things right.âÂ
