Preview: Stags vs Shrimps

30 November 2013

Everything that you need to know ahead of our Sky Bet League Two clash with Morecambe at One Call Stadium...

TEAM NEWS

Defender Ritchie Sutton will be sidelined until the New Year, having sustained a thigh injury in our midweek defeat at Burton Albion.

Midfielder Lee Stevenson also took a knock in the clash at the Pirelli Stadium, whilst Jamie McGuire is ruled out through suspension.

That means we could hand a debut to right-back Darryl Westlake, who has joined us on loan from Sheffield United.

The visitors, meanwhile, could hand a start to talisman Jack Redshaw, who has played just 38 minutes of competitive so far this campaign.

Redshaw, was Morecambe’s top scorer with 15 goals last term, but suffered a hip injury back in pre-season.

Defender Andrew Wright and midfielder Andy Fleming are both available for selection, after missing the Shrimps’ match at York City through suspension.

RECENT FORM

Our team are without a victory in five attempts on home soil, whilst Morecambe have won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions.

The Shrimps, who currently occupy 11th position in the Sky Bet League Two table, earned a point from a goalless draw with York City in midweek.

Jim Bentley’s men have already won four times on the road this term, with their most recent coming at Burton Albion earlier this month.

In the scoring charts, Sam Clucas has found the net on 10 occasions, whilst Padraig Amond and Kevin Ellison lead the way for Morecambe, having netted five goals apiece.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

Our two previous meetings with Morecambe came in the 2007/08 campaign.

The Shrimps were victorious on both occasions – winning 3-1 at Christie Park, before earning a 2-1 success in North Nottinghamshire.
