Joint youth team manager Adam Murray said: “It’s been a tough few days for myself and Richard Cooper. When we took over the youth team we were handed a group of 32 lads, of which only 16 could take part on a single matchday.
“Over this period in which we have been in charge, we have worked with the lads on a daily basis and have had to make our decisions based on the day-to-day qualities which we have seen from the young players.
“There have been some tough decisions but we feel we have come a long way this season.
“Standards have increased throughout the football club and the group we have kept on all have a chance of making a living in the game.
“Unfortunately, in these instances, there are always casualties. We’d like to thank all the young players for their efforts and attitudes during their time with us. It has been a pleasure working with them. We wish them all the best in their future careers.”
The youth team will introduce another intake of first year scholars ahead of next season, from the age of 16, allowing them the time to develop and force their way in to the first team.
