Stags applauded for hospital efforts

23 January 2013

The interim Chairman of Sherwood Forest Hospitals has written to the club with gratitude for raising over £400 for King's Mill Hospital.

Precisely £426.66 was raised last October when members of our first team squad took part in a sponsored bike ride.   The money will go towards the cost a new MRI scanner at King's Mill Hospital, Mansfield.

Writing to the club, Mr Mellor noted:  "I am writing to sincerely thank you and your colleagues for helping us raise funds for a new MRI scanner.

"The MRI scanner assists our clinical teams to deliver care to over 10,000 patients per year."

Our Head of Media & Communications Mark Stevenson said:  "We are only too pleased to help raise funds for King's Mill.  We will continue to assist Chad newspaper, the main fundraisers, throughout the coming year in any way we can.

"We know of the importance of this type of equipment for hospitals.  It will, when bought, ultimately change the lives of some local people," he added.

An incredible £160,000 has been raised so far towards the purchase of the state-of-the-art MRI scanner, which will cost £750,000.

Donations to our MRI appeal can be made by calling the customer services department at King’s Mill Hospital on 01623 672222, by visiting Sherwood Forest Hospital’s NHS Trust website, through Just Giving or by cheque.  All cheques should be made payable to Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charitable Funds.
