Reaction following Dartford win

2 February 2013

Manager Paul Cox was left delighted after a ruthless second half performance in our 5-0 victory over Dartford at One Call Stadium this afternoon.

Skipper Adam Murray earned us a narrow half-time advantage, before goals from Anthony Howell, Luke Jones, Matt Green and a late penalty from Lee Stevenson earned us our biggest win of the season.

Speaking shortly after the final whistle, our boss said: “In the first half, I thought we were lucky not to be losing the game, never mind winning it.

“We looked off the pace all over the pitch and we rode our luck. I can’t think of one person, apart from Adam Murray, who can come out of it with any credit.”

He continued: “They needed a little bit of a kick up the backside [at half-time] and it would’ve been enough for me if we’d ran out as scrappy 1-0 winners, having not played for a while.

“After the interval, we were excellent. The passing and movement for the fourth goal, which culminated in ‘Greeny’ scoring was of a high standard, but we’ll take every goal as it comes.

“We got back to the standards that we’ve been setting of late [in the second half] and I’m just happy that we’ve got three points and improved our goal difference.

Our next fixture is against Barrow at One Call Stadium on Saturday 09 February (kick-off 3.00pm).
