Cox aims for string of away wins

18 February 2013

Paul Cox is looking for three successive away victories, he stated this morning.

Our first team face Hyde tomorrow night, followed by a trip to Luton on Saturday and Lincoln City three days later.

“We want three wins, it’s as simple as that,” said Cox.  “Whether we get them or not is a different matter.  If we were to get three positive results from the three away games then it would put us in a brilliant position."

The manager revealed that his players have begun to set points targets prior to each match, similar to last season.

“We’ve sat down with the lads and we’ve looked at our opponents and put together a points tally like that, similar to what we did last year after York [in January].”

Looking towards the top end of the table, he added:  “Whoever wins the title will probably win it with the lowest points margin for a number of years.

“I think there is now a small number of clubs down to Macclesfield who have a realistic chance of making the play-offs.  It just depends now on who puts a run of form together.  There is always one that comes out of the pack who has a little run.

“Whoever wins it [the title] will probably win it with a mid-eighties to late eighties [points total].”

We head to Hyde tomorrow night with just Jake Speight and Ross Dyer out injured.
