Cooper pleased with goals contribution

6 February 2013

First team coach Richard Cooper today praised the first team squad for upping the ante in front of goal.

Stags have netted 11 goals in three matches and added to the impressive tally in friendly action yesterday courtesy of a 4-1 win at Doncaster Rovers.   Ben Hutchinson and Matt Rhead both bagged a brace to secure victory.

"Like Saturday's game [against Dartford, a 5-0 win], where the goals were shared among five different scorers, yesterday's game was a similar case of not relying on one person to score the goals.  That's what we want and it is really pleasing to see."

Elsewhere, our youth team have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table to 11 points with a win against FC Halifax Town this afternoon at Coronation Park, Eastwood (2pm).

Joint-youth team coach Cooper said:  "Winning is important.  It breeds good attitudes and good mentalities.  The performances of late have been really good, even on tricky pitches."
