Christmas came early for sick children being cared for at King’s Mill Hospital this afternoon when they were visited by our first team squad who came armed with presents.
Young Stags’ fans were over the moon to come face-to-face with their heroes who set about signing and posing for photographs with as many patients as possible.
The annual visit is an opportunity for the players to spread some joy to local children, and as manager Paul Cox acknowledged, it's a day which means a lot to everybody involved.
“At this time of year, it's nice to spread some Christmas cheer to those less fortunate than ourselves,” said our boss.
“The lads have dug deep and have put their own money into a collection to buy presents for poorly children.
“It is testament to this group of players for what they have done,” he added.
Supporter Steven Bingham tweeted: ‘Just taken my daughter to children’s ward at KMH [King’s Mill Hospital] and bump into the #mtfcsquad! Great to see that side of the game! #stars’
