Five star young guns thrash Worksop

29 August 2013

Five players were on the score-sheet as our youngsters cruised to a fabulous 5-0 victory over Worksop Town at Phoenix Park tonight.

In what was a thoroughly dominant performance, Jack Hawkins’ cross was converted by Chris Spencer (above) as we went ahead inside the first 10 minutes.

Jack Thomas soon doubled our advantage when he latched onto Matt Jones’ superb through ball and rounded the ‘keeper to slot home.

Our youngsters then established a 3-0 lead by half-time, as an un-named trialist skipped past two men and struck a thunderous drive into the bottom corner.

The Tigers were further tamed after the re-start, when Liam Carver pounced on some slack defending to bag his first goal in Stags colours.

Talisman Trovarn Damar-Thomson then completed the rout with a well-placed finish, following Jones’ set-piece delivery into the six-yard box.

Team: Fell, Marsden (Walker), Birch, Asare, Coupe, M.Jones, Spencer (Lamb), J.Thomas (Banton), Hawkins (Carver), Trialist, Damar-Thomson.
