Cox commends fans’ support

8 April 2013

Paul Cox used today’s press conference to praise the supporters’ backing of the players during the past few months.

Our fans have witnessed a remarkable run of recent results, seeing our side win 13 out of the last 14 games.

And speaking ahead of tomorrow’s big match at home to Macclesfield, Cox said:  “Credit has to be given to the supporters who have been travelling in sheer numbers to watch our games; and not just watching, {but] getting behind the boys not only through the good times but through the times when we’ve needed them

“I said from the first day I walked into this football club, [that] the supporters in this stadium will have a massive bearing on what the club does and where it is in the future.”

On a massive week ahead, and with the opportunity of hitting top spot after tomorrow night’s home game, Cox said:  “It’s an important week – but we’ve said all along that they’re important.  It’s getting exciting now.”

Meanwhile Captain Adam Murray has taken part in a light training session this morning after fighting through Saturday’s 4-0 win against Barrow.

“Muz (Adam Murray) soldiered on [at Barrow],” said Cox. “He had a little tweak in his calf against Wrexham but strapped himself up and played.

“Apart from Muz, there are a few aches and pains. I thought he was good in the Wrexham game, and out of this world in the Barrow game. When he's in this mind and mood he really is a stubborn little so and so.  He really is a leader out there."

The manager added:  "There’s no time to be injured or tired now, it’s the most important part of the season and we want to make sure we give it our best shot.”
