Cox pleased with three points

10 November 2012

Manager Paul Cox was delighted with how his side performed in our 1-0 victory over Southport at One Call Stadium this afternoon.

Ben Hutchinson’s second-minute strike earned us all three points from a close-fought encounter - and with it our sixth home win of the Blue Square Bet Premier campaign.

“We needed the win,” admitted our boss. “I thought in the first half we were excellent, especially in the way we passed the ball and moved it around the pitch.

“But I won’t get carried away and we’ll take it one game at a time. If we show the same level of desire and application against Slough, we have a very good chance of progressing in the cup.”

Speaking after the match, Cox also praised the performance of our goal scorer.

He continued: “At the minute, we’ve got a hungry Ben Hutchinson. Some of his touches today were fantastic and when he’s like that, he’s on another level. It’s only a few years since he was playing in the Champions League.”

Our next clash is on Tuesday night when we make the long journey to Holloways Park to face Slough Town in a First Round replay of the FA Cup with Budweiser.
