Defender John Dempster and midfielder Jamie Hand have completed personal terms to sign for us this afternoon.
Dempster is no stranger to the Stags faithful having enjoyed a highly successful three month spell with us from Crawley Town last season. ÂThe 29-year old was captain of Kettering Town when they stormed to the Conference North title in 2008 and went on to make over 115 appearances for the club. Â
His first championship medal was with Rushden and Diamonds, his first club, when the Diamonds won promotion from League Two in 2003. Â Â More recently, Dempster was part of the Crawley Town squad which won the BSBP two seasons ago. Â
Highly rated defensive midfielder Jamie Hand has made over 300 appearances in a career which began at Watford. Â
Hand, 28, has enjoyed spells at Chester, Lincoln and Ebbsfleet amongst other clubs, and was the captain at Hayes & Yeading last season. Â
Paul Cox said: Â âThey both bring great experience and a winning mentality to our squad. Â âThe supporters will know from last the qualities which âDempsâ brings to the side. Â He has the pedigree we want, having previously won this division. Â âJamie will add steel and competitiveness to the squad but isnât just a ball winning midfielder as he has quality and range in his passing ability.â
