Mansfield Town under-19s are back in Youth Alliance League action this Saturday against Hartlepool United at RH Academy (11am kick-off).
The young Stags will head into the game with a positive mindset following strong displays against Salford City and Notts County in recent weeks.
Versatile attacker Ronnie Kokkinos secured a brace in last weekend’s clash with local rivals Notts County.
Speaking to www.mansfieldtown.net on Kokkinos’ recent performances and development over the course of this season, PDP lead coach Sam Collins said: “His performance [against Notts County] was really good. He’s a really talented lad. We’ve been working on his end product in recent times and there’s been positive signs of improvement. Ronnie is consistently scoring goals and creating chances [for his teammates]”.
Mansfield will welcome Hartlepool United to RH Academy, whose last result was a 1-0 defeat against Grimsby Town.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash, Sam said: “We have watched them quite a bit so that we’re prepared. It’s another game we want to perform well in.”
Players from younger age groups have featured in the under-19s’ squad throughout this campaign to help with their development and Sam said:”[Under-16s’ right-back] Elliot Hartmann did well towards the back end of last season with us and has been back with us [at points throughout this season and] the last few weeks.
“Cormac Maher picked up a knock in an under-17s game against Grimsby Town last night and will be assessed ahead of Saturday.”
Forward Daniel Organ has recently signed a two-year scholarship with the club following a successful trial period. Speaking on the 16-year-old, Sam said: “We have been really pleased with Dan during his trial period.
“He works hard and scores goals [which is exactly what you need from a striker]. We are looking forward to working with him over the next couple of years.”
As ever, all supporters are welcome to attend the game for free at the following venue: RH Academy, Woburn Lane, Mansfield, NG19 7RT.
