Preview: Stags vs Oldham

The Stags will play in their third successive home game this weekend when Oldham visit One Call Stadium for a Sky Bet League Two clash. Here’s all you need to know…

Please read these special notices, which include COVID-19 safety guidelines, before attending Saturday's match at One Call Stadium:

Proof of a negative test or double vaccination is not required for Saturday's game

Mansfield have a number of absentees for the game. Defenders Kellan Gordon, James Perch, George Cooper and Richard Nartey, along with midfielder Ryan Stirk, are all out with injury.

Defender Farrend Rawson, midfielder Stephen Quinn and forward Tyrese Sinclair are suspended for the clash.

Boss Nigel Clough says captain Ollie Clarke is expected to feature despite having a broken nose, and that on-loan Stoke City defender Will Forrester could make the matchday squad for the first time since signing on deadline day.

The Stags have been in poor form recently but produced an improved performance against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Oldham have also endured a difficult start to the season but enjoyed a 1-0 win away at local rivals Rochdale last month.

We last faced Oldham at One Call Stadium in May 2021, for our final home game of the 2021/22 campaign.

Goals from Tyrese Sinclair and Jamie Reid sandwiched a George Lapslie brace in NG18 to give the Stags a dominant 4-1 win.

The referee for Saturday’s game will be Craig Hicks, assisted by Conor Brown and Chris Isherwood. The fourth official will be Gary Hilton.

The safety of our supporters is always our highest priority. We therefore politely remind all supporters that One Call Stadium is an all-seater ground and standing is not permitted inside the stadium.

Listed below is the club's general match ticket admission prices for home league games in 2021/22.

This includes family tickets, which allow one adult and one child to watch the game from Blocks A and B of the Quarry Lane end.

Tickets for the match are available to purchase online via www.stagstickets.co.uk, at the ticket office on Quarry Lane, or by calling the ticket office on 01623 482 482.

Supporters who have purchased tickets via stagstickets.co.uk and selected the 'print at home' option can now use their mobile ticket received via email to access One Call Stadium. Just download your ticket via email after selecting 'print at home' and scan the barcode on your mobile ticket using the scanners at the turnstiles.

Matchday prices do not apply to supporters who purchase tickets online. You can therefore make a saving by purchasing tickets on matchday via stagstickets.co.uk.

Tickets will be available to collect from the main ticket office from 10am on Saturday, but please collect tickets beforehand if possible.

Disabled supporters should view our disabled supporters' section for revelant matchday ticket information.

Supporters can also purchase tickets on the day of the game. The main ticket office will be open for fans to buy tickets from 10am until 3pm. Please note that tickets bought in person at the ticket see an increase in price on matchday.

Our family ticket offer is also available for Saturday's game, which admits one adult and one child for just £25! Supporters that have purchased a family ticket will be seated in our family block, which is located in Block A of the Quarry Lane End. Fans with a family ticket may also be seated in Block B of the Quarry Lane End if demand dictates so.

Sandy’s Bar & Kitchen will open from 12pm, along with our fans' zone bar.

Sandy's Bar & Kitchen will serve matchday food from midday up until kick-off. No food will be available from Sandy's after the game.

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available for both home and away supporters, and the bar is located at the rear of the Ian Greaves Stand.

The bar will remain open until 9pm after the match.

Supporters will also be able to purchase the latest edition of our matchday programme The Stag for just £2.50 prior to Saturday's game.

The Stag can be purchased from the merchandise stand near Sandy’s Bar & Kitchen, the ticket office, our matchday kiosks & bars, or any mobile programme vendor around One Call Stadium.

Parking is unfortunately unavailable at One Call Stadium.

All reserved car parking spaces are within the location of the Ian Greaves Stand car park. Please note that the car park shuts 30 minutes prior to kick-off due to safety regulations.

The following sites, owned by Mansfield District Council and with easy access to One Call Stadium are Grove Street, Victoria Street, Garden Road and Church Lane.

All of the above pay and display surface level car parks offer cashless parking via RingGo as an additional way to pay.

Every car park has a unique code so people can either pay over the phone, by text, online or by using a free smartphone app.

Where do I go when I get to One Call Stadium?

Hospitality

If you are a hospitality guest, please enter the stadium via the brown double doors to the rear of the Ian Greaves Stand, which is the entrance to our hospitality suites.

The doors are located to the left of the white merchandise stall outside Sandy’s Bar & Kitchen, backing onto the main car park and sign-posted 'The Kevin Bird Suite'.

Media

Members of the media are asked to also head to the entrance to our hospitality suites, where our media steward will provide you with the necessary accreditation.

Supporters

If you need to collect tickets, please head to the main ticket office on Quarry Lane. For ticket purchases, please visit the matchday ticket office, adjacent to the Quarry Lane Stand, around the corner from the main ticket office.

The Ian Greaves Stand is the main stand at One Call Stadium, which backs onto the main car park.

Away supporters are housed in the North Stand, which can be accessed via Portland Retail Park. Please note: there is no matchday parking at the retail park.

Report: Stags 0-0 Oldham Athletic

Mansfield Town and Oldham Athletic played out a goalless draw at One Call Stadium this afternoon.

Both sides saw final third action in the game, but with clear-cut opportunities a rarity.

Mansfield midfielder George Maris was taken off via a stretcher early in the first half, alluding to 14 added minutes.

George Lapslie’s 75^th minute penalty appeal was turned down leading to the midfielder receiving a yellow card.

Mansfield manager Nigel Clough made two changes to the side that were beaten at home to Barrow a week ago.

Right back James Clarke replaced suspended centre back Farrend Rawson, allowing Elliot Hewitt to move laterally into Rawson's vacated position.

The Stags' second change saw frontman Danny Johnson replace Rhys Oates in attack.

Deadline day signing Will Forrester came into the side for the first time having battled an injury since joining on loan from Stoke City.

Mansfield started brightly when Johnson drew a foul on the edge of the box from Latics' skipper Carl Piergianni four minutes in. Stephen McLaughlin’s delivery a minute later tempted ‘keeper Jayson Leutwiler to come from his line as the ball skidded wide of the right post.

Stags found an opening down the right four minutes later when Harry Charsley swung in a cross to meet Lapslie at the far post. Unmarked inside the box, Lapslie struggled to keep his header down, instead skewing his effort vertically.

Maris’ threaded pass to McLaughlin on ten minutes again opened up the Oldham defence. The left back struck the ball first time into Johnson who then fired his volley into the side netting.

Maris’s 11^th appearance of the season only lasted another minute as the experienced midfielder took a heavy knock following a coming together, forcing him off the pitch. Forward Oates replaced Maris after a lengthy delay.

Mansfield continued to break Oldham down following the restart whilst struggling to create clear cut chances.

Oldham midfielder Jack Stobbs received the game's first yellow card for a trip on Oates after 37 minutes. Ollie Clarke then received Mansfield’s first a minute later for a trip on Dylan Bahamboula to cynically break down Oldham’s counter-attack.

Towering defender Piergianni nodded down a Latics corner on 40 minutes which was struck powerfully against the cross bar by Harrison McGahey who should have found the back of the net.

Minutes later Rhys Oates received the ball inside the box, shook off the defender and sliced a good opportunity wide of the post with both sides beginning to craft opportunities in front of goal.

Four minutes into added time at the end of the first half, Piergianni again caused trouble in Mansfield’s box. The Englishman’s half-volley on-the-turn was palmed away by Nathan Bishop diving to his near post.

Oldham again found a direct way through Mansfield a minute later. Advancing into the box, Zak Dearnley cut onto his right foot to curl a shot into the body of Bishop before Davis Keillor-Dunn clumsily knocked the rebound effort wide.

Ryan Burke was introduced at the break in the place of Hawkins which meant McLaughlin moved from left back into the centre.

The open nature of the game resumed after the break with both sides able to bypass the midfield with ease before failing to form a clear-cut chance.

Lapslie’s interception in midfield allowed him to lay the ball off to Charsley in the 68^th minute. The Mansfield man advanced into the box to see his grounded shot parried to safety by Leutwiler to deny hosts’ best chance of the half so far.

The Stags continued to press for a go-ahead goal as Oates forced an opening on 80 minutes. The forward’s pass into the box found Charsley who saw his shot saved by Leutwiler diving arm despite being one on one.

McLaughlin found Oates arriving at the far post with two minutes to play but the strikers first time effort was held by Leutwiler.

Mansfield’s second half persistence didn’t come to fruition as a resilient Latics defence earned a draw at One Call Stadium.
