Goalkeeper Alan Marriott fulfilled several career ambitions during a remarkable 2012/13 campaign.

The 34-year-old played in The FA Cup Third Round for the first time in his long career and received many plaudits for his fine display against five-time European Cup winners Liverpool.

Three months later in April 2013, Marriott won promotion for the first time as we dramatically regained our place in the Football League.

Born in Bedfordshire, Marriott initially arrived at One Call Stadium in January 2009 following a brief spell with Rushden & Diamonds.

However, it was during his time with Lincoln City, which spanned from 1999 until 2008, that he originally began to prove his worth as an exceptional shot-stopper.

Marriott featured on almost 400 occasions for The Imps and became their first ‘keeper to record over 100 clean sheets.

Despite numerous injury problems in the 2010/11 campaign, the custodian regained his position as our first choice shot-stopper the following season.

In April 2012, Marriott scored his first career goal in a televised Conference Premier clash with promotion-rivals Wrexham.

He made his 500th career league appearance against AFC Telford United in September 2012 and kept his 50th clean sheet for us during the campaign.
