Our young guns breezed into the next round of the FA Youth Cup with a 13-0 demolition of Bourne Town tonight,

The game was more like a procession than a contest, with Tom Naylor pulling the strings in midfield on a night which Stags dominated from start to finish.

A hapless Bourne side were both out matched and out classed for the full 90 minutes, during arguably one of the most one-sided games ever to be seen at Field Mill at youth level.

Bourne were penned in their own half from the first whistle and the floodgates were well and truly open even by half time, as Stags produced a devastating display of attacking football.

Mansfield were on the scoresheet within the first five minutes. Tom Naylor's through ball found Conor Higginson darting through the middle, and he rounded the goalkeeper to slot into an empty net from ten yards.

On 12 minutes, Higginson was in the thick of the action once more.  After showing good strength to race past the defence he smashed a shot goalwards which the keeper did well to save.

Mansfield doubled their lead on 27 minutes. An inch perfect chip from striker Billy Logan found his forward partner Grant Ryan, and the young sharp shooter beat visiting goalie Lee Drury to the ball and finished with aplomb.

Stags added a third five minutes from the end of the first half.  Higginson, playing on the right wing (as opposed to his normal position up front) struck a shot from an acute angle which deflected off visiting captain Chris Andrew and into the net.

Stags made it 4-0 on the stroke of half time by notching up another goal.  Grant Ryan twisted and turned to tease the defence, and after he forced his way through the entire Bourne rearguard and found Billy Logan, whose shot beat the keeper at his near post,

If Bourne expected Stags to take their foot off the pedal in the second half, they were in for a rude awakening.

Five minutes into the second period James Allsopp crossed from the right, and Grant Ryan followed up to slam the ball home to claim his second of the night, following a mis cue by Logan inside the area.

Stags made it 6-0 thirty seconds later.  A route one clearance by Rob McCormick was picked up by Logan.  His first effort was parried by the 'keeper, but he made no mistake with the follow up.

On 55, Stags bagged their best goal of the night - through their star man Grant Ryan, who claimed a hat-trick in the process.  After taking a touch on the edge of the area, he turned exquisitely to rifle in a thunderous 20 yard shot past Lee Drury, whose night of misery continued.

Conor Higginson then followed up to make it 9-0 with a curling effort and less than a minute later he bagged another, following up from a Grant Ryan shot which was spilled by the 'keeper.

Stags continued to show no mercy and had another trick up their sleeve in the form of substitute Nick Langford.  He came off the bench with 20 minutes to spare and ran the Bourne defence into the ground.   Two minutes after taking the field he picked up on a Logan through ball and poked it home to put Stags' tally into double figures,

Langford bagged another with 14 minutes remaining.  Lewis Croucher the architect on this occasion, Langford the finisher with a volley through the goalkeeper's legs.

With seven minutes to go Langford bagged his hat trick, having been on the pitch only 12 minutes.  By now, Stags had knocked all confidence out of Bourne and were left to cut through the defence at will - which is exactly what Langford did as he cruised through the centre to calmly finished past Drury,

It was unlucky 13 for Bourne on a night of where Stags' taught the Lincolnshiremen a masterclass of attacking football, which restricted the visitors to just one effort on target throughout the 90.

With the end in sight,  Langford claimed his fourth and Stags' 13th goal of the evening.  Higginson the provider, Langford, again on song in front of goal, leaving Drury to pick the ball from his net once again.
