Comfortable on either wing or as a central striker Briscoe began his career as a trainee at Port Vale where he made four appearances for the first team.
After his release from Vale in 2007 he spent the next couple of years playing part-time football, and can list Gresley Rovers, Leek Town, Stafford Rangers and Ilkeston Town amongst his former clubs.
Briscoe was handed a second bite at the professional cherry when David Holdsworth signed him in January 2009.
