Challinor was one of several acquisitions made byStags manager David Holdsworth in November 2009. The attacking midfielder joined from Cambridge United on a deal until the end of the current campaign, with an initial one month loan turning into a permanent contract in January 2010.
The 28-year-old also began his career at Cambridge, though it was for City, and not United that he signed for in 2000. Challinor has a wealth of experience at this level. After two seasons with the Lilywhites, he had spells with Aldershot Town, Exeter City and Rushden & Diamonds.
Jon has an impressive goal scoring record for a midfielder, netting 21 goals in 71 appearances for Aldershot, and 22 in 87 for Exeter.
