John Almond

Posted on: Thu 29 Jul 2010
It is with great sadness that we report the death of former director John Almond, who passed away recently.

Mr Almond was on the board of directors for over 15 years from March 1967 until May 1982. When Arthur Patrick unexpectedly resigned as Chairman in May 1981, Mr Almond took over in that position until Richard Hartley bought the club in June 1982. He had been Vice-Chairman from December 1974 until May 1981.

He was last year awarded a Life Presidency for his services to the club.

Interim Chairman Andrew Saunders said:  "This is very sad news.  John was a fantastic servant to the club for many years and his efforts will always be gratefully remembered.  On behalf of the Board and the whole club, I would like to pass on my condolences to his family."
