Hollett departs Field Mill after 23 years

Posted on: Fri 30 Apr 2010

Respected Scout Ivan Hollett has today left Field Mill after 23 years of service to take up a similar role at a Championship club.

Ivan, who was last week given a Lifetime Achievement award on his 70th birthday, has undertaken every backroom job at the Stags, except as manager.

He has been largely responsible for bringing through the majority of our young stars spanning over two decades and nurtured through the ranks the likes of Nicky Weaver, Ryan Williams and Liam Lawrence,.

Chairman Andrew Perry said:  "Ivan had already discussed his future with us prior to accepting the Lifetime Achievement award.  He has worked at the club for 23 years, man and boy.  He lives and breathes football, especially Mansfield Town Football Club and we are sad to see him leave."

Ivan told mansfieldtown.net:  "I have made this decision with a heavy heart.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and am pleased to have brought many players through the system."

Speaking ahead of his new job, he said:  "I couldn't refuse this offer.  It is a new challenge for me.

"I wish everyone well at the club and wish them every success in the future," he added.

We would like to wish Ivan and his wife Ann all the very best for the future.  He will always be welcome at Field Mill.
