Striker Jon Shaw and wife Vicki have welcomed their first child into the world, a boy named Jack (pictured).

He was born at Derby General Hopial in the early hours of this morning and weighed 6lb 9oz.

Jon missed last night's 1-0 loss at home to York with a twisted knee sustained in a training session on Monday.

Speaking to mansfieldtown.net this afternoon, Shaw said:  "We (he and Vicki) came to the hospital at 7.30pm last night but I was regularly checking last night's score."

On his family's new addition, he said: "It's undescribable - the best thing that has happened to me.  I've not left his side."

Shaw is expected to return to training this Friday.
