O'Hare, 25, has been with us on trial for nearly a month.  He has impressed in recent friendly matches and can play at either left-back or in the heart of the defence.

The former Bolton trainee spent six years with arch-rivals Chesterfield, before being released this summer along with several other players.  It has been reported that many Spireite fans were disappointed to see him leave Saltergate.

We also saw off the interest of a handful of clubs who were chasing Gavin Hurren.  The 22 year old is a defensive midfielder, and can also operate in the heart of defence, or in the middle of the park.  A former Nottingham Forest youth team player, he went on to make 53 appearances for Kidderminster Harriers, before looking for pastures new this summer.  He partnered O'Hare at the heart of the defence in Monday night's 3-1 defeat at home to a strong Sheffield United side.

Manager Billy McEwan exclusively told mansfieldtown.net:  "Both Alan and Gavin have accepted the contracts which we have offered them, and we are now waiting for them to put pen to paper.

"Alan has made over 140 appearances for Chesterfield and brings a lot of experience to the side.  He has shown that he has what it takes to do a good job for us this season, and with the training and coaching he will receive, I have no doubt that he can only improve further."

On Gavin Hurren, he said:  "Gavin will give the team 100% and he is a versatile player, which is very important.  We had to throw him in at the deep-end on Monday night against Sheffield Utd, as he had an injury in the days leading up to that match - but I thought he did well, overall."

The boss also informed mansfieldtown.net that he is waiting to hear back from four other players.

"I am waiting on the response of four other players whom I have offered contracts to," he added.

mansfieldtown.net can also exclusively reveal that a forward from a Championship club will be named in the squad for this Saturday's trip to Boston United.
