David Holdsworth says that the race for a play off place is not over.

Tuesday's home defeat to York extended the gap between us and the fifth-placed Minstermen to eight points. With nine games remaining, the Gaffer insists that there is still time to make up ground in the promotion race.

He said: "We are still fighting for everything. It's imperative and I would never in a million years encourage anyone to give up.

"Now is the time to remain focused and do everything for the football club. We will fight for everything and the keep our spirit alive.

"We have scored alot of goals this season. We cannot underestimate that."

Speaking ahead of our trip to Histon tomorrow Holdsworth predicts that it will be a tough game despite the Stutes decision to dismiss manager Steve Fallon and replace a large chunk of the side that led them to a third placed finish in the Blue Square Premier last season.

He added: "We have to go down there and stand up to the fight. This year they have a different manager and different players but it will be a very tough game.

"It's about imposing yourself and playing to your strengths."

In team news, Jake Speight is expected to be named in the 16-man squad although is unlikely to start after making his first appearance on Tuesday since undergoing a knee operation almost a month ago.

Oliver Hotchkiss has resumed training but is in need of match practice after suffering from a persistant ankle injury whilst Luke Jones is still sidelined with ligament damage to his ankle.

Luke Foster will be suspended for tomorrow's game and the visit of Altrincham to Field Mill next Tuesday after being sent off against York.

This week we all welcomed the news of the birth of striker Jon Shaw and his wife Vicki's first child baby Jack. The Gaffer had a message for the proud new parents from Field Mill and said: "It's certainly wonderful news for Jon and his good lady and will give Jon a big lift.

"Like anybody, when you have the birth of a child it's a wonderful occasion."

Finally, Holdsworth refuted suggestions in the media that he had been linked with the vacant managerial hot seat at Macclesfield and said: "I have a good relationship with the Board and this club still has a long way to go.

"I haven't thought about any job, to be honest, in all the time I've been here and I haven't had any discussion with the Chairman."
