After taking over a side in 18^th and only two points above the relegation places, sweeping changes were required from the outset and Holdsworth's first additions to the squad were those of goalkeeper Alan Marriott and centre half Scott Garner. The gaffer tells us that we needn't look any further for his best ever signing than in that first foray into the transfer market.

"All of the players that we have brought in here have made an impression but of the initial two or three, Alan Marriott stands out by a country mile," he said.

"He is a very, very good goalkeeper, we needed that stability in between the posts and he's been impressive ever since.

"Young Garner has done well for me too and if he wants it, he could go to much higher levels of the game."

The Boss didn't reserve all his praise exclusively for Marriott and Garner and added a number of other players names who feature highly in his judgement.

He continued: "Louis Briscoe, frustratingly has games where he doesn't gel but that's wingers for you. Louis has done great and I am very pleased with him.

"If you look at Rob Duffy you get the right brand of personality out of the boy. He has been a real success coming here.

"But, if I was judging player of the year right now then Kyle Perry would be a leading contender for making large impressions on games constantly.

"So there are players all through the squad who I am delighted with but some have made greater contributions than others.

"I am delighted with the whole squad and it is the strongest I have ever had by a long way."
