Manager David Holdsworth was understandably delighted with his sides performance as they defeated Ebbsfleet United 2-0 at Field Mill this evening.
Goals from man of the match Louis Briscoe and then Rob Duffy, ensured the Stags returned to winning ways following the defeat at Wrexham.
Speaking to www.mansfieldtown.net after the game, he said: ''I thought we played very well at times. The work rate was very good, but it's nothing more than I expect. You have to be fit to work hard, and my teams are certainly that.''
He was full of praise for the expansive way in which his side set about the visitors. ''When we got the ball out wide to Ryan Williams and Louis Briscoe we were ambitious. While Oliver Hotchkiss had a very good debut, I think we saw what he was all about.''
''Some of our football at times was very good, the defending was also good and a clean sheet was very pleasing too.''
''We have finally put to bed the ghost of Wrexham.''
Holdsworth was understandably delighted with Louis Briscoe, who bagged a goal in a superb performance, his first for the club: ''I'm delighted for him, he's a great lad and it means an awful lot to the kid.''
He wasn't quite so complimentary about the players' striking green boots however. ''Even though his boots aren't the best, I'll buy him some new ones in the summer.
But seriously, he tore their left back to shreds, so much so he was taken off.''
The manager also had special praise for young centre-half Scott Garner, he said: ''It's great to have players like Scott, him and Louis are the future. Having two 19 year olds in the side is excellent for us.
We're going in the right direction; we need to be hard to beat. But with pace and power we can achieve good things.''
