Football in the Community held their first presentations of the academic year this week at three schools:Birklands, Eastlands and Abbey.Eastlands managed to generate £1150.60, Birklands mounted up £2050.25 and Abbey raised £2879.75.

All the children who raised money received some great prizes which included certificates, footballs, tickets, trophies and autographed shirts.Martin McIntosh, Chris Wood, Ashley Kitchen, Paul Madin and Johnny Mullins (on his 22nd birthday) all helped with the presentations and made the kids feel that little bit more special

FITC Officer Mark Hemingray said "It's great to see the youngsters being able to receive prizes for their hard work and it makes it even more special that we were able to get some players to make it a day to remember for all the children."

Saturday Morning Club

If you are in Year 2 or above and go to Primary School and you have nothing to do on a Saturday morning then why not come and join us at Field Mill on our Saturday Morning Club?

We do the SMC to give youngsters that chance to play football in a fun and safe environment as well as to build confidence and self esteem. The cost of the SMC is £3.00 and we run from 10:00am - 12:00 noon. Both boys and girls are welcome and you don't have to be good at football either. If you want to join in on the fun all you have to do is come to Field Mill just before 10:00am to register your name, pay the £3.00 and enjoy the football.

Kids' Corner

From Kieran Hollingsworth aged 12 and Jordan Carver aged 11:

We are two young boys who would like to tell you about Football in the Community. We have been coming for three years and over this period of time we have improved our skills to get into the Centre of Excellence. Also we would like to thank the coaches Joe, Mark, Gaz, Lynky, Amy, Jack, Ashley, Jamie and Darbi for coaching us and letting us have fun.

We play football from 10:00am - 3:00pm and in that time we do some coaching and have a World Cup Tournament. We also meet players such as Carl Muggleton, Chris Wood and Johnny Mullins and think they are great sportsmen for taking the time and effort to pay back the community. Also, coming here makes you happy and stops you getting into trouble.
