Darlington v Stags
Saturday 16 February 2008 | kick off: 3pm
Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena, Neasham Road, Darlington, Co Durham, DL2 1DL
In and around the Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena
The Balfour Webnet Darlington Arena was first opened in 2003. It is impressive to look at and is of a very good size. The stadium is completely enclosed and all the corners are filled in with seats. Away fans are situated in the East Stand at one end of the stadium; this holds around 3000 away supporters and offers a very good view. The stands look virtually identical apart from the South Stand, which has a row of executive boxes running across the back of it.
Darlington is renowned for having one of the best selections of pies available in the Football League. Also on offer are set meal deals which are also charged at reasonable prices. The only downside to buying refreshments at Darlington is that all hot drinks and cold snacks are sold from a vending machine. This is likely to mean further cues to buy food and drink.
The stadium is located on the outskirts of Darlington and there are not that many pubs in the vicinity. At the stadium itself there are two bars; one called 'Bar 66' and the other called the 'Corner Bar'. Both admit away fans, however as you would expect they get very crowded.. It may be an idea to take a fifteen minute walk into the town centre where there are several pubs, including a Weatherspoons outlet situated on Skinnergate.
Directions
Leave the A1(M) at Junction 59 and take the A167 towards Darlington. Then take the A1150 towards Teeside. Turn onto the A66 towards Darlington and you will come to the stadium on your right. Although this route is not the shortest it does avoid driving through Darlington Town Centre.
