Youngsters enjoy educational trips

6 August 2014

Trips organised by Football in the Community (FITC) prove popular with youngsters.

The last week has seen our hard-working Football in the Community (FITC) department organise a day out for over 30 school children to visit both the Water Mill Carvery and Mansfield Fire Station.

During our time at the Water Mill, the children experienced ‘Chef School’ - an educational activity led by their staff where the children who visit participate in healthy eating workshops and also get to tickle their taste buds with a delicious carvery dinner.

In the same afternoon following our experience of ‘Chef School’, the children were put through their paces at Mansfield Fire Station.

The youngsters were treated to numerous activities such as fire investigation workshops, fire hazard awareness, and had an in depth look around the fire truck before being given the opportunity to fire the hose.

We would like to place on record our thanks to Kathleen Faulconbridge from Nottinghamshire Police for her help and involvement in this visit.

The children and staff from ‘Football in the Community’ also wish to say a massive thank you to the staff from both Water Mill and Mansfield Fire Station for making the day's experience one to remember.
