Young Stags thump Lincoln City

13 September 2014

Goals from Koczalski, Hempshall, Fitzpatrick and Fletcher seal first three points of season.

Our youth team recorded their first victory in the Football League Youth Alliance (North/East Division) this morning as they thumped Lincoln City 4-1 at the Worksop Van Hire Stadium in Clipstone.

The Stags were dominant throughout and defender Jack Koczalski, who celebrated his 18th birthday only yesterday, began the weekend in perfect style as he opened the scoring with a near-post header following a great corner by Conor Green.

Koczalski’s fellow defensive partner Kyle Hempshall, who himself turns 18 next week, then doubled our advantage on the half-hour mark as he ghosted in between the Imps defence and directed a header into the net.

Lincoln reduced arrears from the penalty spot just after the re-start, but Joe Fitzpatrick restored our two-goal cushion when he pounced amidst of a goalmouth scramble and found the target.

Dan Fletcher put the icing on the cake in the closing stages when Drew Gibson’s delightful chipped ball split the Imps’ back-line, which allowed the striker time and space to pick his spot and complete the scoring.

Our youngsters’ next match in the FLYA (North/East Division) is away at York City on Saturday 27 September.
