Stags' striker nominated for PFA Fans’ Player of the Month

4 May 2016

Stags’ striker Matt Green is a contender for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for April in Sky Bet League 2 and supporters can cast their vote now.

Adam Murray’s men remained undefeated in four of their six matches in the aforementioned month, putting together a three-game winning streak against Carlisle United, Exeter City and Notts County.

And Green was influential throughout, netting a fantastic brace against the Magpies in a memorable local derby, which ended in a 5-0 triumph for the hosts at One Call Stadium.

The Bath-born striker put Mansfield ahead with a stunning half-volley in the sixth-minute, before pouncing on a defensive mistake on the hour-mark to get his second of the contest and put his side three goals to the good.

The ex-Birmingham City forward has scored 16 goals so far this season and has been an important presence in the Stags’ attacking arsenal, always making himself available and running the channels tirelessly.
