Stags players help kids to cycle safely

31 October 2014

Stags' first team players help kids' cycling skills as part of Football in the Community's October half-term course.

Lee Beevers, Martin Riley, Jack Thomas, Liam Marsden, Jamie McGuire, Liam Hearn and Chris Clements (pictured) took time out from their busy training schedule to speak to the youngsters and attend a prize presentation.

Community director Mark Hemingray said: "Nottinghamshire Police, our partners in this scheme, arranged for Nottinghamshire County Council's Cycle Safety team to put the children through their paces.

"The children learned through the use of fun related games on how to ride their bikes safely.

"The cycle safety team also ran maintenance workshops based around: how to test brakes, changing tires etc, which the children found very interesting."

He added: "The kis received fantastic cycle related prizes such as bike lights, bike locks and high visibility bags."
