Murray’s men could equal a record at Accrington Stanley this weekend.
As many supporters may be aware, Mansfield Town are on the verge of going an entire season without being awarded a penalty.The Stags haven’t been awarded a spot-kick since Sam Clucas saw an effort saved by Barry Roche in a match against Morecambe at One Call Stadium – way back in November 2013.
At present, Adam Murray’s men are the only team in the entire Football League and Premier League not to be awarded a spot-kick this season.
Mansfield’s run of games without being awarded a spot-kick now stretches to 80 matches in all competitions.
However, the Stags have been given penalties in their last two reserve games, as well as in a youth team game at Kidderminster Harriers last week.
Southend United (9) have been awarded the most in Sky Bet League Two this term, whilst Swindon Town (11) and AFC Bournemouth (16) lead the way in Sky Bet League One and the Sky Bet Championship, respectively.
The last team competing at this level to go an entire campaign without being awarded a penalty was Accrington Stanley in 2011/12.
