Somes leaves Stags

3 September 2012

Young striker Adam Somes has today had his contract with the club terminated by mutual consent.

Somes, who finished as top scorer in Mark Hemingray’s youth team last term, has quit the club in order to pursue a new career in education and coaching in the United States.

Manager Paul Cox said: “Adam came in last week and had a chat with me. He has options to become a teacher and a coach, and he also wants to play football.”

“If this is the career he now wants to pursue then we don’t want to stand in his way at all. Therefore, we wish him all the best of luck for the future.”

The 19-year-old made his only first team appearance for us in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round defeat at Fleetwood Town last season.
