Rose aiming to contribute to Stags' success

25 May 2016

New signing Danny Rose says he hopes to aid a play-off push next season at One Call Stadium.

The 22-year-old striker put pen-to-paper on a deal with the Stags today after the club agreed an undisclosed fee for his services with League 1 club Bury.Ā

And Rose, who began his career at Barnsley, says manager Adam Murray didnā€™t have to persuade him to join the Stags.

ā€œIt didnā€™t need much selling ā€“ Iā€™ve seen Mansfield in the past; Iā€™ve played against them once, Iā€™ve been here with Bury and there was a good team when we played them,ā€ Rose said.

ā€œLast season, they did really well, unfortunately they didnā€™t get the play-offs but hopefully next season we can get ā€˜right up thereā€™.ā€

Born in Barnsley, Rose scored five goals in 28 appearances for the Shakers last season and he hopes to get himself in scoring positions as frequently as possible for the Stags.

ā€œI like to work hard for the team, hopefully put a few goals in but itā€™s a team game really and as long as we get the three points on a Saturday, thatā€™s all that matters.

ā€œI like to run in behind a lot, get in the box as often as I can ā€“ thatā€™s where the goals come from ā€“ Iā€™ll be mainly in the box, waiting for the ball to come in and hopefully put it in the back of the net.ā€

After winning promotion from League 2 with the Lancashire club in the 2014/15 season, the striker hopes he can help to replicate his former clubā€™s success at One Call Stadium.

ā€œWe had a great team spirit [at Bury]. It was a long season and it went right down to the wire and the team spirit got us through.Ā

ā€œHopefully [our league position will be] done before the last day of the season, get in the play-offs and see where we are but Iā€™m hoping that we can do much of the same.ā€

The 22-year-old is looking forward to seeing some familiar faces when he meets up with his new team-mates in pre-season, but he doesnā€™t believe that it will take him long to settle in.

ā€œI played with ā€˜Jensā€™ (Brian Jensen) the ā€˜keeper, he was at Bury when I was there. Lee Collins, the skipper here I believe; I played with him at Barnsley - thatā€™s the only people I know here but Iā€™ll get to know them and thatā€™ll be fine.ā€
