Preview: Stags vs Forest

12 July 2013

Football finally returns to One Call Stadium on Saturday as we entertain Billy Davies’ Nottingham Forest (k/o 3.00pm).

The Stags will be hoping to record their first win of pre-season against a Forest team that can boast several players who have played in the Premier League.

It will also be supporters’ first chance to see our new summer signings, which include Keiran Murtagh, John McCombe and Jamie McGuire, on home soil.

Goalkeeper Ian Deakin has also signed a contract with us and could feature against the club, whom he was with during his youth career.

Undoubtedly tough opposition, Forest began their pre-season schedule with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Hibernian in Portugal last weekend.

Dexter Blackstock and Ishmael Miller were their scorers, whilst Matt Derbyshire, Darius Henderson and Marcus Tudgay also featured against the SPL side.

Meanwhile, we drew 0-0 with Naxxar Lions in our trip to Malta, before returning to the UK and falling to a 4-1 defeat at Worksop Town on Wednesday.

TICKET NEWS

Supporters can purchase tickets from the Ticket Office up until 2.30pm, after which point there will be no further ticket sales.

Matchday prices are as follows: £12 Adults, £6 Concessions (Senior Citizens, Students & Under 16’s).

Please be aware that under no circumstances will cash be accepted at the turnstile, so supporters MUST purchase a valid match ticket for this fixture.

Furthermore, allocated seating will also be in operation, so supporters are required to sit in the seat that is printed on their match ticket.

Our Championship visitors will be backed by a large following, having sold out their entire allocation of tickets for the North Stand.

LAST MEETING

Our last meeting with Nottingham Forest was in a behind-closed-doors match at One Call Stadium almost a year ago, which we won 2-1.

Anthony Howell fired us ahead shortly after the interval, before Ishmael Miller’s spectacular strike put Forest back on level terms. Nick Wright scored a late winner.
